The only way I could imagine that working is if the entire rail network is just one giant circle with some one-way intersections for train stops and all the trains on the circle would always be traveling in the same direction. I really can't see how that works though. Originally posted by AlexMBrennan:You build two tracks in parallel: one going left and the other going right. Please don't come at me with pitchforks, I just really don't see why the train will not just take the damn open track.

#Factorio trains how to

I'm 99.99% sure I am more stupid than the trains and I just don't know how to build efficient rail networks. Why are they doing this? How can I resolve this? I would be glad to recieve any tips for building efficient train networks, this is my first big train network.Īlso, the title for this thread is just clickbait. The train won't take the available path and is instead insisting on going through the blocked path, while blocking the upper train's path as well. It contains a train station though, but currently that shouldn't cause any problems. The train below has a perfectly open path on the right side tracks to it's destination. This is causing lots of unnecessary jams for me. Trains try to find the path to their destination with the lowest weight. I understand train networks are weighted graphs in which train stations increase the weight of the edges they are placed on.
